CardValet has several features to preserve cardholder security:
The CardValet app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. Once downloaded, open the app and select New User. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete registration.

You must select a password that is at least 8 characters: 1 upper case character, 1 lower case character, 1 number and 1 special character.

Yes. Each financial institution requires a separate and unique user ID.
Your CardValet user ID and password are separate from your online and mobile banking user ID and password. If the user ID is available, you can set up the same user ID you have in online and mobile banking.
Yes. You can add additional cards by selecting the menu, tapping Manage Portfolio, then tapping Add Card. You will be asked to provide the same personal and card information that was provided at registration.
You will get this message if you have entered an incorrect password or username. After 3 failed attempts, you will need to contact a Fairport Savings Bank branch to be unlocked.
You will only need to update your card information if the card is an entirely new number. You do not need to update your card if only your expiration date has changed. You can remove old cards by selecting Manage Portfolio from the main menu and unchecking the old card.
Yes. The Card Details screen of CardValet will display the card status of Active, Inactive, or Restricted. These statuses are not controlled by CardValet. A restricted card can only be made active by contacting Fairport Savings Bank.
Open the CardValet app and select the Forgot Password link. A temporary security token will be sent via email. This temporary security token is only valid for 15 minutes. Once entered, you will be able to select a new password.
Yes. If you would like to unsubscribe from CardValet, select Manage Portfolio from the main menu and uncheck all associated cards and accounts. Once all are unchecked, you will be prompted with a pop-up asking if you would like to unsubscribe. If you choose to unsubscribe, you can re-enroll for CardValet in the future, but you will not be able to re-use the same user ID.
CardValet only displays transactions where a card was present during the purchase, including in-store transactions using the chip or the magnetic strip and ATM transactions. Transactions performed by tellers, ACH, automated transfers, bill payments, online payments, etc. will not display in the transactions list.
Users may add their card to multiple mobile devices. The primary device is the main mobile phone for the user. All alerts are sent only to the primary device and all location controls are based on the location of the primary device.
Yes. You can change the primary device by opening the main menu, tapping Settings and selecting Primary Device.
You may choose to turn on My Location, My Regions or Block International. These rules only apply to transactions where a card is present and are based on the location of the primary device. Online transactions cannot be controlled using these rules.
A merchant may be nearby, but may present a different address on the transaction. For example, a transaction may include the corporate location information rather than the actual location of the store where the card was used.
CardValet groups merchants into categories. A merchant may be categorized as (a):
You may choose to deny transactions based on the category the merchant falls under. It is possible that a merchant may not fall into one of these categories, causing a transaction to post to your account.
Yes. You can choose a per-transaction limit by selecting the Spend Limit option from the Control Preferences screen of CardValet. Any transactions where a card is present and over the set amount are declined. This per-transaction limit does not change the per-day transaction limit for your card.
Gas stations often send a preauthorization amount much higher than the actual transaction. You may have only wanted $25 in gas, but the gas station sent a $50 preauthorization. If that $50 is higher than your per-transaction limit, the transaction will decline.
No. If you have a debit card transaction that automatically occurs every month (for example: a gym membership) any card controls established in CardValet will not decline the transaction. If you have a recurring debit card transaction that you do not want to go through, you will need to contact the merchant directly.
You can choose to get alerts for all transactions, transactions outside of your location or region, denied transactions, or a low balance alert. If a card is turned off, you will be notified of all declined card-present transactions during that time.
CardValet sends alerts as push notifications. CardValet will display a pop-up asking you to allow push notifications. You must agree to get push notifications from CardValet to receive transaction alerts.
You can set the Do Not Disturb time in the Settings menu, which will suppress notifications during a set time. Some notifications will still be delivered, including denied transactions or card-present transactions.
Yes. You can view up to 30 days of past alerts by selecting Messages from the main menu.
No. Alerts will only go to the device you have selected as your Primary Device.
You may choose to receive an alert when your account balance falls below a certain amount. These alerts will only appear when the CardValet application is open. You should not rely on this feature to alert you each time your balance falls below the set amount since it is only checked when the application is open. It is still the responsibility of the cardholder to keep track of their spending and account balance.
Yes. You can view up to 50 transactions within the last 30 days. CardValet will only display card based transactions. Online transfers, bill pays, teller transactions, etc. will not appear in CardValet.
Yes. CardValet will only list card-based transactions in the transaction history but the account balances will include all account transactions. Your balance in CardValet does not include Fairpay allowances or your available balance on your checking reserve line of credit. This is updated each time you sign in to CardValet or by selecting the refresh icon.
